Making a career out of drug tests
Last week six men fell seriously ill during a drug trial at Northwick Park Hospital, London. Until now, only four of the six patients have regained consciousness and two remain in intensive care. The drug trial conducted by the American pharmaceutical company Parexel caused an acute debate about the risks that volunteers are taking. Vincent Moissac-Vignoux, who volunteers in drug tests himself, doesn’t understand what the fuss is about. He says that these drug trials are secure and patients are taken good care of. And they are also very lucrative: Mr. Moissac-Vignoux has even made a second career out of testing drugs.
