Introduction
Every year on April 22, people from all over the world take part in Earth Day Events. Their aim is to promote a healthy environment and a “peaceful, just, sustainable world”. ( http://www.earthday.net/)
This event might inspire your class either to take part in the Earth Day Event with a special presentation about the rainforests or invent a new day at your school: Rainforest Day.
- You will be working together in teams. Each team will try very hard to tell and convince others of the importance of saving our rainforests.
- After having worked on task 1 and 2, you will be divided into four groups: Groups A-D will explore different aspects of the rainforests and find out about the importance of rainforests and the danger they are in at the moment. Group E will suggest some solutions on how to save our rainforests.
- After collecting lots of information on your topic you will prepare:
a) depending on your task: a poster, a quiz, an article or a leaflet
b) an oral presentation that is made freely and convinces your listeners.
- You should not only summarize the contents of the pages but also think about an appropriate way of presenting your results: statistics, pictures, maps, etc.
