The international communicator's toolkit
We can all agree that Business English learners' needs have changed significantly over the last decade. Learners' focus tends to be less on building grammatically correct sentences and more on building relationships. Rapid-fire online communication and virtual teams require an adeptness in getting your message across clearly and clarifying information. These changing learner needs require a new approach to Business English training and updated coursebook material.
In this workshop, I'll present the international communicator's toolkit, which is three key skills that Business English learners will need to succeed in the 21st Century workplace and some activities that will help them develop these skills. We'll look at some examples of input and activities from the brand new fifth edition of Basis for Business B1.

National Geographic Learning: bringing Life to the classroom and the classroom to life
Drawing on stunning National Geographic images, video and engaging topics, the latest edition of National Geographic Learning’s Life adult learning series (Beginner to C1) transforms the learning experience into a fabulous journey around the world. With up-to-date global content Life offers more than a pure language course by enabling learners to identify more closely with the global community and to communicate effectively with it. Inspiring National Geographic content engages learners by connecting them with people and places around the world, whilst “My Life” sections encourage learners to relate this global content with its 21st century themes to their own lives. In this talk, whilst looking at the key features of the series, we will also be suggesting a number of practical ways in which we can work effectively with this strong visual content in the classroom.
